• Deanna Lankford and Anna Waldron have been name "Columbia Public Schools Science Heros" for their extensive work to create meaningful partnerships among MU scientists, teachers and students throughout the district.

• MUSEC is pleased to host two new visiting scholars. Nurcan Cansiz and Mustafa Cansiz are graduate students from the Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey. Nurcan is studying preservice teacher ideas about socio-scientific issues and is working with Dr. Troy Sadler. Mustafa is doing research related to nature of science issues and is working with Dr. Deborah Hanuscin.
• Somnath Sinha, MUSEC doctoral student, received Golden Key 2012 scholarship. Golden Key is an international honor society which recognizes scholastic achievement and excellence among college students.
